Faculty of Law, CMU Partners with Intellicore to Pilot “Lohma” AI in Legal Clinic, Advancing Digital Transformation for Social Justice

On May 22, 2026 — The Faculty of Law at Chiang Mai University (CMU) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) and a Data Processing Agreement (DPA) with Intellicore Company Limited to launch the pilot project “Lohma: AI Legal Clinic.” This initiative integrates Artificial Intelligence (AI) into legal education and clinic workflows, driving the faculty toward data-driven innovation while shaping next-generation jurists for society.

Assistant Professor Suthasinee Supa, Head of Legal Consultant Center (Law Clinic), outlined the partnership’s three core objectives aimed at managing the growing complexity of clinic cases:

  1. Support Practical Learning: Utilizing AI to streamline preliminary factual data and document organization for students.
  2. Enhance Public Service Agility: Eliminating redundant administrative steps so faculty and students can dedicate more time to deep, analytical client consultations.
  3. Integrate Ethical Technology: Promoting responsible legal tech adoption in strict compliance with professional ethics.

Assistant Professor Dr. Chainarong Luengvilai, Dean of the Faculty of Law, CMU, emphasized that this initiative advances the faculty’s Law in Action direction through two strategic pillars: Digital Transformation (shifting toward paperless, automated systems) and Legal Accessibility (making legal insights easy and equitable for the public).

“While AI excels at preliminary data preparation, all core legal analysis, reasoning, and final decision-making remain strictly the human responsibility of our faculty and students,” noted Asst. Prof. Dr. Chainarong. He added that the program incorporates stringent data protection measures to ensure maximum security.

Mr. Teerawat Chokkij, Managing Director of Intellicore Company Limited, described the collaboration as a joint sandbox exploring the intersection of technology, law, and education. Inspired by his family’s past struggles to access legal aid, he remarked: “If Lohma can help students think systematically, reduce administrative burdens for educators, and improve public access to legal help, this represents a small but deeply meaningful step forward.”

Mr. Teerawat reaffirmed that Intellicore prioritizes data security and academic integrity above all else. Under the signed DPA, the platform deploys a semi-automated data anonymization process to maintain strict compliance with the Personal Data Protection Act (PDPA).

The “Lohma: AI Legal Clinic” pilot serves as a pioneering Legal Tech blueprint for Thailand, demonstrating how academic institutions and private innovators can collaborate to safely deliver impactful, sustainable benefits to society.
