Faculty of Law, CMU Explores Academic Collaboration with CUPL, China [10APR26]

The Faculty of Law at Chiang Mai University (CMU)—led by Asst. Prof. Dr. Chainarong Luangwilai (Dean), Asst. Prof. Watis Sotthibhandhu(Associate Dean), and Asst. Prof. Dr. Nattapong Suwanin—held a bilateral meeting with representatives from the China University of Political Science and Law (CUPL) on April 10, 2026, to establish academic partnerships.

Both institutions expressed a strong mutual intent to explore the development of a joint Master of Laws (LL.M.) Double Degree Programme aimed at elevating global curriculum standards. Additionally, CUPL is prepared to welcome faculty, staff, and students from CMU Law for short- and medium-term exchange programs, special lectures, academic conferences, and study visits at both its Beijing and Hainan campuses.

To ensure smooth operations, the CMU Beijing Liaison Center will serve as the primary mechanism to facilitate and coordinate all future activities between the two universities. This milestone collaboration marks a significant step forward in expanding CMU Law’s international network, fostering cross-cultural exchange, and driving the university’s long-term global strategy.
