HR Notify: From Idea to Management Lesson \u2013 When the Solution Does Not Always Require Building Something New<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Faculty of Law, Chiang Mai University, opened the stage for the \u201cFact to Action Pitching: From Data to Innovation for Change\u201d<\/strong>, providing an opportunity for staff to present ideas for organizational development. One of the projects that drew attention was \u201cHR Notify.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The project originated from the complexity of managing employment contracts<\/strong>, which exist in various forms and end at different times. This situation creates risks of delayed contract renewals, which may affect operations and reduce efficiency. The project team therefore proposed the development of a new system to notify contract renewals in advance<\/strong>, aiming to reduce errors and provide staff with greater confidence in contract management.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

However, after consideration and feedback from the committee and the Dean, it was pointed out that developing a new system is not always the answer<\/strong>. The main issue may not lie solely in technology but rather in management practices and staff discipline<\/strong>. The recommendation given was to utilize existing tools such as Google Calendar<\/strong>, which can be set to notify months in advance, send recurring reminders, issue alerts via email and mobile devices, and be shared with team members.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In addition, the committee suggested expanding the notification concept to other administrative tasks<\/strong>, such as monitoring assignment deadlines, building maintenance schedules, and internal task tracking, in order to broaden the innovation\u2019s impact.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Although \u201cHR Notify\u201d has not yet been developed into a new system, this project highlights the value of learning from feedback<\/strong> and reinforces the principle that organizational development does not always require creating something new, but rather making the most of existing tools<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This case demonstrates that failure is not the end<\/strong>, but rather an opportunity to learn, improve, and move toward smarter and more sustainable practices.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n
