A new project, &#8220;Using Government Credit Cards,&#8221; is set to streamline financial operations and reduce complex procedures.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\">Assistant Professor Dr. Chainarong Luengvilai, Dean of the Faculty of Law, and Assistant Professor Sakchai Jinawong, Associate Dean for Administration, recently listened to a presentation for the project &#8220;Using Government Credit Cards to Support Procurement and Reduce the Steps for Project Fund Advances.&#8221; The project, a standout idea from the Fact to Action Pitching event, was presented by Ms. Chanjira Sommuangma, a Financial and Accounting Officer at the faculty.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\">The project analyzed and proposed two options for implementing government credit cards: either for all types of expenses or only for specific central expenses that require card payment. However, a review of case studies and potential risks found that using the card for all expenses could significantly increase workload, complicate documentation, and introduce control and auditing risks.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\">Based on the feedback from the dean and associate dean, the project will be further developed and piloted for straightforward procurement tasks that are low-risk and can be securely controlled. For instance, the initial use will focus on purchasing non-complex consumable supplies, where there are no other types of procurement mixed in. This cautious approach ensures that this financial innovation genuinely reduces complex procedures and increases operational agility without adding unnecessary burdens or risks.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\">The &#8220;Using Government Credit Cards&#8221; project is a clear example of the faculty&#8217;s culture of empowering its staff to bring innovative ideas to the forefront, ultimately improving efficiency and creating new solutions for the Faculty of Law, Chiang Mai University.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\">Note: A government credit card is a credit card that a government agency has arranged with a financial institution to allow civil servants and government employees to use in place of a cash advance for assigned duties. The card cannot be used for cash withdrawals or for accumulating reward points. There are two types: a permanent credit line card for frequent users and a temporary credit line card for occasional users. The billing period is the 11th of each month, with payment due by the 26th of that same month.
