The administrators of the Faculty of Law, Chiang Mai University, organized the \u201cOpen Mind, Closer to Administrators\u201d activity to strengthen mutual understanding of the Faculty\u2019s operational plans while providing a platform for staff in the Division of Academic Services and Student Development to voice their opinions and expectations. The initiative aimed to enhance collaboration across all units, with a long-term goal of positioning the Faculty as a true \u201cpillar of society\u201d and advancing towards sustainable development.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

At the forum, administrators outlined the Faculty\u2019s vision of becoming a leading law school dedicated to advancing its core missions in service of society. Two key missions were emphasized: first, the development of innovative teaching and learning methods to produce high-quality graduates through Active Learning<\/strong> and the cultivation of Legal Consciousness<\/strong>, ensuring that students not only understand the law but also its impact on society; and second, the pursuit of research and academic services that generate tangible social and economic value, measured through Social Return on Investment (SROI)<\/strong>, with the Faculty setting a target of delivering at least 1 billion THB in societal value within four years\u2014over three times the government funding it receives.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In addition to defining these missions, administrators reinforced the Faculty\u2019s core values: respect for human dignity, fostering an inclusive workplace free from bullying or discrimination, and encouraging continuous improvement by avoiding outdated practices. The organizational culture was also highlighted as one that promotes innovation, creativity, and resilience in the face of future challenges, such as the rise of AI and declining student demographics.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The forum also created a space for open dialogue, where staff shared both opportunities and challenges in their daily work. Suggestions included the need for standardized work processes, greater reliance on data and statistics for planning and decision-making, enhancements to admissions and academic records systems, and the development of activities that promote students\u2019 Legal Consciousness. Staff also emphasized the importance of addressing students\u2019 mental health in the context of increasingly intensive Active Learning, as well as improving workplace conditions and staff welfare, such as upgrading office furniture to support efficiency and well-being.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Administrators further stressed the importance of cultivating a strong organizational culture built on transparency, effective communication, and inclusive participation. They underscored the principle of \u201cLeading by Example\u201d<\/strong>, where administrators and supervisors at all levels serve as role models, ensuring that the Faculty\u2019s values are consistently demonstrated in practice. Collaborative problem-solving, the reduction of siloed operations, and a commitment to continuous improvement were highlighted as essential pathways toward organizational excellence.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
