On May 22, 2026<\/strong> \u2014 The Faculty of Law at Chiang Mai University (CMU) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) and a Data Processing Agreement (DPA) with Intellicore Company Limited to launch the pilot project “Lohma: AI Legal Clinic.”<\/strong> This initiative integrates Artificial Intelligence (AI) into legal education and clinic workflows, driving the faculty toward data-driven innovation while shaping next-generation jurists for society.<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n

Assistant Professor Suthasinee Supa, <\/strong>Head of Legal Consultant Center (Law Clinic)<\/strong>, outlined the partnership’s three core objectives aimed at managing the growing complexity of clinic cases:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

  1. Support Practical Learning:<\/strong> Utilizing AI to streamline preliminary factual data and document organization for students.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  2. Enhance Public Service Agility:<\/strong> Eliminating redundant administrative steps so faculty and students can dedicate more time to deep, analytical client consultations.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  3. Integrate Ethical Technology:<\/strong> Promoting responsible legal tech adoption in strict compliance with professional ethics.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n

    Assistant Professor Dr. Chainarong Luengvilai, Dean of the Faculty of Law, CMU<\/strong>, emphasized that this initiative advances the faculty\u2019s Law in Action<\/em> direction through two strategic pillars: Digital Transformation<\/strong> (shifting toward paperless, automated systems) and Legal Accessibility<\/strong> (making legal insights easy and equitable for the public).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    “While AI excels at preliminary data preparation, all core legal analysis, reasoning, and final decision-making remain strictly the human responsibility of our faculty and students,” noted Asst. Prof. Dr. Chainarong. He added that the program incorporates stringent data protection measures to ensure maximum security.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    Mr. Teerawat Chokkij, Managing Director of Intellicore Company Limited<\/strong>, described the collaboration as a joint sandbox exploring the intersection of technology, law, and education. Inspired by his family\u2019s past struggles to access legal aid, he remarked: “If Lohma can help students think systematically, reduce administrative burdens for educators, and improve public access to legal help, this represents a small but deeply meaningful step forward.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    Mr. Teerawat reaffirmed that Intellicore prioritizes data security and academic integrity above all else. Under the signed DPA, the platform deploys a semi-automated data anonymization process to maintain strict compliance with the Personal Data Protection Act (PDPA).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    The “Lohma: AI Legal Clinic” pilot serves as a pioneering Legal Tech blueprint for Thailand, demonstrating how academic institutions and private innovators can collaborate to safely deliver impactful, sustainable benefits to society.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
